Youth Share (Savings) Account "Space Explorer Account"

Similar to our Regular Share Account for adults, the Space Explorer Account is the gateway to our full suite of youth products and can be established with a $5 initial deposit. Accounts are held in the name and Social Security Number of the child or teen. This account features an attractive split rate dividend tier and is open to all members under age 18. Membership includes many benefits, including an annual birthday card for the account holder.

Youth (Share Certificate) College Saver Account "Super Nova Account"

With a low $500 minimum initial deposit, this deposit-only share certificate is the perfect account to start saving for higher education!

The certificate is subject to a rate change annually and reaches maturity at their 18th birthday.* You may make deposits anytime, as often as you'd like, as long as you meet the $200 minimum add-on deposit requirement. You may also transfer money from the Space Explorers Account to teach them the difference between long and short-term saving.

* Dividends will post monthly on the last day of each calendar month and at maturity. Early withdrawal penalty: Paid dividends become part of the principal balance and are not available for withdrawal without a penalty during the remaining term of the Share Certificate. Withdrawal of any portion of the principal balance held in the Share Certificate may not reduce the account below the minimum balance. The penalty on the amount withdrawn will be one hundred eighty (180) days dividend or the total dividend earned to date, whichever is less. An Early Withdrawal Penalty of seven (7) days of dividends will be assessed on the amount withdrawn between the first six (6) days after the initial deposit to open the account.

Custodial Account

In addition to our Space Explorer account, we offer a traditional custodial account. With an approved membership application and an initial deposit of $5, an account will be established for the minor and can later be converted to a Regular Share Account after the child reaches age 18.

The Custodial Account has no investment term and has the same rate structure as our Regular Share Account product. The Regular Share Account is tiered, meaning the higher the balance the higher the dividend rate (see the rate table). Dividends are calculated from the first day of the current month up to and including the last day of the current month and are paid monthly. Also, there is no early withdrawal penalty if you withdraw funds on deposit before the end of the dividend period.
